ABA Divisions
Law Student

Young Lawyers Division
The Young Lawyers Division is open to all American Bar Association members under the age of 36 years old or admitted to practice less than five years.

Senior Lawyers
The ABA Senior Lawyers Division serves the interests and needs of the legal profession by sharing the accumulated knowledge and experience of its members. Its services and programs are uniquely tailored to the needs experienced practicing, and retired lawyers admitted to the bar 25 years or age 55 and older.

Government and Public Sector Lawyers
The Government and Public Sector Lawyers mission is to serve the nations public lawyers. By promoting integrity and excellence among public advocates, providing meaningful services not obtainable elsewhere, and by highlighting the extraordinary work of public lawyers, the Division works to enhance the position of public lawyers and create camaraderie and pride within the public sector. The Division is dedicated to providing representation within the ABA for government and public sector lawyers who make up one eighth of the legal profession.

ABA Sections
ABA Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice
The Administrative Law Section serves its members, the bar and the public at-large, by providing a congenial forum to share new ideas and the most recent information on substantive and procedural developments in Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice. Members of the Section receive the quarterly Administrative & Regulatory Law News magazine, the quarterly Administrative Law Review, and the annual Developments in Administrative Law compendium.

ABA Affordable Housing
This Forum's objectives are to: (1) serve as a clearinghouse for lawyers of information and programs related to affordable housing and community development; (2) serve as a coordinator of educational and training programs within the ABA for lawyers practicing in the area of affordable housing and community development; (3) during each Association year, hold one or more educational meetings; and (4) provide training programs focusing on new issues or ongoing concerns.

ABA Criminal Justice Section
"The Unified Voice of Criminal Justice" -- With its diverse membership of criminal justice professionals, the ABA Criminal Justice Section is uniquely situated to bring all the various actors to the table to address today's most pressing criminal justice issues.

ABA Section of Health Law
The Health Law Section is the voice of the national health law bar within the ABA. Its 8,500 strong members from across the United States represent clients in all segments of the health care industry, including physicians, hospitals and other institutional providers, teaching and research organizations, managed care organizations and other third-party payors, pharmaceutical companies and device manufacturers.

ABA Section of Intellectual Property Law
From its strength within the American Bar Association, the ABA Section of Intellectual Property Law (ABA-IPL) advances the development and improvement of intellectual property laws and their fair and just administration. The ABA Solo, Small Firm and General Practice Division (GPSolo) is the national voice for solo, small firm and general practice lawyers, including military and government lawyers.

Individual Rights and Responsibilities

The Section fulfills our role by: raising and addressing often complex and difficult civil rights and civil liberties issues in a changing and diverse society; and ensuring that protection of individual rights remains a focus of legal and policy decisions.

International Law and Practice
The ABA International Law Section (the Section) is the leader in the development of policy in the international arena, the promotion of the rule of law and the education of international law practitioners. Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar
Members of the Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar are part of a 14,000 member group that strives to improve legal education and lawyer licensing by fostering cooperation among legal educators, practitioners and judges through workshops, conferences and publications.

National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers
NACDL’s mission is to serve as a leader, alongside diverse coalitions, in identifying and reforming flaws and inequities in the criminal legal system, and redressing systemic racism, and ensuring that its members and others in the criminal defense bar are fully equipped to serve all accused persons at the highest level.

Public Contract Law
The Section of Public Contract Law serves to provide balanced recommendations on procurement policy, provide a forum to engage with colleagues across all segments of the procurement industry, and gain insight into and develop unique perspectives of federal, state and local public contract law.

Public Utility, Communications and Transportation Law
